Small Arisen Congregator (Staff) Notes & Tips

  • Though their weapon resembles some sort of laser axe, it is never used to attack directly.
  • All ranged attacks deal Energy damage. The kick deals Radiation. Most attacks are powerful enough to kill the Spawn in a single combination, but can be avoided easily. Try not to fight in narrow spaces without cover.
  • Extremely vulnerable to Induction attacks. Their habit of holding still for long periods makes the Channeler of Hell's "Way of Flames" ability especially effective.

I took the liberty to modify the name of this enemy, from "Small Two-Handed Arisen Congregator", to "Small Arisen Congregator (Staff)" ; and this, for several reasons.

Before anyone decides to revert the page to its former iteration, here's the reasoning behind this change : the original denomination is both awkward, and inaccurate.

In the tips and notes, another user said that "their weapon resembles some sort of laser axe" ; which has some truth to it (although, given the length of the handle, it would be more of a futuristic polearm, than a two-handed axe) ; but it is also a bit misleading.

In fact, as threatening as it looks, these mobs never use the "weapon" they wield in any direct way : it is not a melee weapon, but rather, a very stylish catalyst.

When you have defeated this kind of mob, and take a closer look, it actually resembles the military standards used, among other armies, in the Roman legions (aka Vexillum). But this kind of name wouldn't speak to many people ; so, ultimately, I think it's best to just call it a staff.

On a side note, whenever these mobs cast any of the 3 different spells they have in their moveset, they always wield the staff with only one hand ; I've only seen ever seen them two-hand it when they sprint toward you, in order to kick you. That's why calling them "Two-handed" is especially inaccurate.

"Arisen Congregator (Staff)" was tempting, because, in game, these enemies are not "Small" by any definition of the term ; but I ultimately kept this adjective, to respect the naming convention used for the other bosses, who become regular mobs in later stages of the game.
