Type Omnicube Program

Omnicube Heater is an Omnicube Program in Hellpoint. The player can load up to three different Omnicube Programs in the Omnicube, but only one can be active at a time. The Omnicube Programs provide an array of different features, which are more or less useful, depending on the situation.

The basic conversion of energy into atomic agitators to produce localized heat. Useless in space, but can save lives in otherwise deadly cold situations.

Omnicube Heater - Information / Use

  • Like its direct counterpart, Cube Cooling, Omnicube Heater is an Omnicube Program that lets you influence, to some extent, the temperature parameter of the player's character.
  • This temperature parameter is visually represented by a vertical gauge, in the lower left quarter of your screen, which only appears when the presence, or absence of one, or multiple external factors is the cause of a change.

  • These external factors can be:
    • The attacks of an elemental nature (In this case, either Induction Damage, or Entropy Damage), used by certain Enemies or Bosses.
    • Environmental hazards / Specific elements present in the environment (For example, the "heating grids", present in the Archon Slaver boss room ; or, when you're in outer space, without the appropriate gear, there is a gradual buildup of the Entropy debuff).
    • Two specific Omnicube Programs : either Omnicube Heater, or Cube Cooling.

  • The gauge can be divided in two halves : at a fixed moment in time, when the temperature is positive, it is represented by a red line in the upper half of the gauge ; when it is negative, it is represented by a blue line in the lower half of the gauge. (It is necessary to precise "at a fixed moment in time", because the temperature parameter is generally fluctuating, in response to the presence, or absence of one, or multiple external factors.)

  • The two halves of the gauge themselves can be divided in two halves ; it represents the fact that the temperature parameter becomes detrimental to the player's character, only once it crosses two specific thresholds : either when it reaches the highest quarter of the gauge ; or when it reaches the lowest quarter of the gauge.
    • When the temperature reaches the highest quarter of the gauge, the player's character gets afflicted by the Induction debuff : in game, this translates to being set on fire, and gradually losing Health Points over time, as long as the debuff is present.
    • When the temperature reaches the lowest quarter of the gauge, the player's character gest afflicted by the Entropy debuff : in game, this translates to a decrease in movement speed / being slowed down, as long as the debuff is present.

  • Whenever the Omnicube Heater is active, it counters any kind of Entropy buildup.
  • If the player's character is already affected by the Entropy debuff, it won't suppress it, but it will at least reduce its duration (At this point, that is only an assumption, that still needs to be tested).
  • If the Omnicube Heater is active in the absence of any other external factor that would affect the temperature, there is a gradual Induction buildup, which stops after it reaches a certain threshold (So, in a way, you can preemptively counter any Entropy buildup).
  • Whenever this ability is toggled on, like the majority of Omnicube Programs, it consumes Energy Points over time ; although, in this case, the cost is consequent enough, that it can be noticed visually, if you pay attention to your Energy bar.
  • All in all, Omnicube Heater can be useful, but it is extremely situational (You have to know in advance the kind of attacks the Enemies, or Bosses will use, in order to be able to prepare accordingly ; because this is certainly not the Omnicube Program you will have loaded by default in your Omnicube, at any time).

Where / How to acquire Omnicube Heater

  • It can be found in the Arcology Underside area (Central Mall subsection).
  • Starting from the Arcology Underside - Central Mall breach ; when facing the breach, and having the door leading to the Alma Mater Atrium plaza at your back ; right in front of you, there's a doorway : ignore it for now.
  • Instead, head toward the passageway you can already see from here, forward, and to the right.
  • After exchanging some pleasantries with the welcoming committee of x1 Sentinel, you can smash some crates that are in the way, and grab 1x Inselium Rod, and 1x Coin.
  • From there, ignore the path that goes to the right ; and instead, go straight ahead.
  • You'll soon exit the passageway : from there, you can already see 1x Sentinel, semi-hidden in a corner, right ahead of you, and slightly to the left.
  • After having taught the wannabe ambusher that it should pick a better hiding spot, you'll find the Omnicube Heater in this same room, sitting on a crate.

Omnicube Heater - Notes & Tips

  • 21/11/2021 : before I edited this page, there was a note saying that the Omnicube Heater "Provides a mobility boost". In the absence of any kind of evidence that could back up this claim (no change in the Mobility value displayed in the menu), I erased it ; but, in doubt, I will at least leave it mentioned here.
  • I am aware that there are actually two different debuffs (?) tied to the Induction buildup (you can see them under the stamina bar) ; but I have no idea what the first one that appears is, or does ; if it is a buff, or a debuff. Perhaps this is what lead to believe in a "mobility boost"?
